From Argentina... with love ! This exceptional singer recorded his first Lp in 1970... and quickly became a major star in France. Charles Trenet, Gilbert Becaud, Charles Aznavour, Astor Piazzolla - deeply impressed by his vocal range - opened doors and blessed his musical ascent with constant support and encouragements. But after years and years of french success, Jairo went back to Argentina where he lives now. Exploring the roots of his native folklore, he offers that brilliant album, a bunch of duets with latin stars... and - with that traditional argentinian opus - celebrates 25 years of incandescent singing !

Born Mario Rubén GONZALEZ in Cruz del Eje (Argentina), he adopted the nickname JAIRO which means "the faithful visionary" in Aramaean. He started his career in Spain and became successful when - in Malagá - an international jury gave him the first price for The International Festival de la Costa del Sol.
In 1976, he recorded the very brilliant "Jairo sings Borges", a collection of tangos and milongas with lyrics by the genious argentinian writer Jorge Luis BORGES. That opus was a hit in France, and JAIRO was invited to sing in Paris on the stage of the mythical Olympia... A star was born !

Since then, JAIRO performed, composed, recorded with a never-ending inspiration. "Argentina Mia..." is just the consecration of 25 years of work. Here he sings and plays with the greatest argentinian artists : MERCEDES SOSA, VICTOR HEREDIA, JAIME TORRES, ELADIA BLAZQUEZ, PETECO CARABAJAL , ATAHUALPA YUPANQUI...
