As his mother said, he sang the first day he was born. His father was preaching at the Baptist Church. Originally from Austin (Brownville) Texas, BILL THOMAS grew up between Arkansas where his native american grand mother lived and Texas where his family resided. He would hear the people that would influence him in the streets of Forthworth and the parks of San Antonio : Lightnin' Hopkins and the one man band Juke Boy Bonner, with the bass drum on his back, banjo in front and harmonica between the teeth.

BILL has tried everything : piano, clarinet and even took a few comedy courses, but the day he bought his first Fender guitar for 90 $, he locked himself in the basement for two years. His Art studies are quickly forgotten and he moves to the East Coast and plays in a band called The RHYTHM ROCKERS for 5 years. They release a record on Aladin. He is also involved in the Boston scene, playing sometimes with ROOMFUL OF BLUES, and receiving the encouragement of The FABULOUS THUNDERBIRDS to form his own band.

The BILL THOMAS BLUES BAND packs in the clubs, always on the road, opening for or sharing the stage with a lot of great names of the Blues. He also occasionnaly replaces ALBERT KING's guitarist.

He arrives in Paris as a tourist, with just a few telephone numbers and his already-engaged for a week at the BE BOP BAR, now closed but well-known for its jam sessions and its unforgettable ambiance. With a fellow musician, he started to play all over Europe. One of his relative, Ramblin' Thomas, was travelling all around and Paris is now for BILL a turning-place, allowing him to shine everywhere else.

Since then, BILL THOMAS released two brilliant albums : "'CAUSE SHE'S MY BABE" (1993) et "PREACHER'S SON" (1994). Thanks to his virtuosity, his melodic, reptilian phrasé and his all out style of playing, BILL THOMAS could become the darling of a public who miss a real guitar hero. His voice is soft, expressive, and at the oppposite of the "blues howlers". He gives his all on stage only with bass and drums and has provoqued the unavoidable comparison with STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN and JIMI HENDRIX. This gifted composer and eternal wanderer offers today his talent thru' Europe by touring intensively. But watch out guys ! The best is to come...
