"Jackalopes, Moons & Angels"


KIMMIE RHODES
was born in Lubbock, Texas, a mystic town where appeared the likes as Buddy Holly, Waylon Jennings, Joe Ely, Butch Hancock, Jimmie Dale Gilmore and Roy Orbison.

KIMMIE RHODES started her musical career when she was six years old. She used to sing some gospel tunes in a family trio.

KIMMIE RHODES grew up listening to Buddy Holly, Bob Wills, Lefty Frizzell and some gospel music... But she was also fond of the Beatles, Aretha Franklin, Bob Dylan and the Broadway musicals ! We understand that her present style is a combination of all these musical influences.

In 1978, KIMMIE RHODES moved to Austin. She met her producer and editor : Joe Gracey. They went along so well that they decided to get married.

In 1981, KIMMIE recorded her first album : "Kimmie Rhodes and the Jackalope Brothers" on Jackalope Records, Joe Gracey's musical label. The great Willie Nelson (who lived close to her house) generously offered the couple to work in his Pedernales River recording studio !

In 1985, KIMMIE cut a second album "Man In The Moon" and got a deal with a london label. She was then able to make a promotional tour in England and Europe where a big number of followers were seduced by her charisma and songs.

In 1989, her third LP "Angel Gets The Blues" was recorded in the Sun Records studios, Memphis. And lately, a Swiss label, Red Moon Records, compiled her two first albums in a "best of" entitled "A Lot Like Texas".

Today, KIMMIE RHODES lives in Austin. She spends her days composing and she plays with an acoustic band to promote her new songs and music.
Afte'r the succes of the wonderful "West Texas Heaven",Kimmie has decided to release an antholgy of her earlier recordings.Here is "Jackalopes,Moons and Angels",12 pure jewels
including the wonderful duet "Just one love" with Willie Nelson.
KIMMIE RHODES is a fine guitarist and a mesmerizing country singer. This girl already earns a reputation as the new princess of country music. Her music is a delicate combination of rural tradition and blues. Beauty, simplicity, perfect voice and melodies... The real flavour of the West !
