Everything started when that cuty little french heartbreaker got up on stage at the Alcazar (Paris, France) to sing the standard "Parlez-moi d'amour"... It was such a success that she quickly became the darling of the show... and during three long years, she lead that scintillating revue !

She was so credible when she impersonated Marilyn Monr on stage that she has been chosen to be Marilyn in "Après la chute", the french adaptation of Arthur Miller's play at the Ollympic. She appeared in an other play : Marc' O's "La Barre". Then, the late and international Marguerite Duras wanted MARIE FRANCE to sing in her play "Navire Night". Duras wrote a special part for her... and MARIE FRANCE played Duras, co-staring Bulle Ogier and Michael Lonsdale.

MARIE FRANCE became the parisian muse, the underground "enfant chérie" of various avant-garde movie directors. She made her debut in the movie "Barocco" where she sang the delicious "On Se Voit Se Voir" (André Téchiné / Philippe Sarde) nominated for the French Awards (Les Césars) in the "best music" category. Then, she appeared in "Billy the Kick" directed by Gérard Mordillat, and "Les Innocents" directed by André Téchine. In every movie, she sang...

A young songwriter from Belgium proposed to produce her first single : "Daisy"/ "Déréglée" (Jacques Duvall/Jay Alanski). 3 other singles will follow : "Marie Françoise se suicide"/"Los Angeles" - Phonogram - then "Je ne me quitterai jamais"/"Corps Diplomatique" and "Est-ce que vous avez du feu ?"/ "Champs Élysées" chez R.C.A. The very glamorous Pierre & Gilles made the record covers.

MARIE FRANCE became a rock'n'roll darling. Her sweet touch of the '60s, her ability to perform rock standards made her suddenly very popular. The french band Bijou produced her very first album : "39 de fièvre" (RCA). The very brilliant Jean-Baptiste Mondino (Madonna, Björk, Bowie...) shoots her for the record cover...

MARIE FRANCE always explored - with sharpness - the patrimony. Between two frenzied rock'n'roll songs, we saw her in cabaret performing an anthology of 1930's songs. From Paris, Bourges... to London, her show became a real 'must'.

But who is really MARIE FRANCE ? She's Pierre et Gilles' favourite model. She's Marc Almond's (ex Soft-Cell) favourite singer (she met Marc because Pierre & Gilles wanted her to feature in the video clip they made for Almond's "A Lover Spurned"). Later, Marc Almond asked her to sing a duet on his "Enchanted" album. From vinyl performances, MARIE FRANCE stormed the stage when she was invited to sing with Marc on different venues in London. This joyful and flamboyant partnership gave birth to a C.D. collector : "Marie France & Marc" where the pair sing french standards of the century. Lately, as a proof of his loyal friendship, Marc Almond composed this exotic and fleshy "Schérazade" which is included in that brand new MARIE FRANCE's album.
Because MARIE FRANCE's actuality is - before all - this album produced by Yan Péchin, a CD sparkling and refreshing as a goblet of french champagne. 10 brand new songs and 2 covers : "On se voit se voir" (from the movie "Barocco") and that very moving version of "La ligne de chance" (first sung by Anna Karina and Jean-Paul Belmondo in "Pierrot Le Fou", never released on C.D.) The diction is sensual, sometimes ironic... giving to every word she pronounces a flavour of a slightly acid sweet. MARIE FRANCE's voice is the one we always knew, fragile and stubborn, but with that magical touch of a more mature seductive weapon (she worked hard for it !).

But the real surprise is MARIE FRANCE's songwriting. Working with the very inspired Yan Péchin (guitarist and producer), she writes her own lyrics. You'll be surprised when you'll listen to her sweetie pop or her nonchalant blues ("Les bras grands ouverts")... There, she offers a collection of songs that are amazing, soft, mischievous ("Les gens vont croire"), disturbing, funny ("Le petit bordel"), erotic, solemn, always between charm and derision.

Songs for lovers
Songs for the ones who love to love
Songs that you all will love to love

MARIE FRANCE also asked some talented and famous friends to join that precious project: Jacques Duvall, the amazing Marc Almond and Daniel Darc (ex- Taxi Girl) as well as Mirwais, who produced and wrote songs for Madonna.

We just recognize the real magicians by the spells they putting on us !
