ELLIOTT MURPHY
"Strings Of The Storm"

EUROPE BRACES FOR HURRICANE ELLIOTT

ELLIOTT MURPHY has launched the first rock hurricane of the season and its heading eastward toward our territory. In fact, Last Call Records is predicting the eye of the storm to make landfall on September 30th, 2003 with the release of ELLIOTT's brand new double CD "STRINGS OF THE STORM".

A reconnaissance aircraft flew into the center of the project to observe the phenomenom and reported sustained, uncompromised, haunting tunes and lyrics, qualifying the project as a Category 5 hit! Massive evacuation of flash-in-the-pan and shallow pop artists will be required.

Heavy choruses and high wind melodies will whip the land when ELLIOTT MURPHY's "Strings Of The Storm" (titled after a poem by french surrealist writer André Breton) arrives. Following in the tradition of such classic double albums as The Beatles "White Album", The Rolling Stones "Exile On Main Street", Bob Dylan's "Blonde on Blonde" and Bruce Springsteen's "The River", it is a vortex of bold and relentless energy powered by Olivier Durand's fervent guitar playing and ELLIOTT's passionate vocals.

The first CD opens strong with the soon-to-be-classic MURPHY rocker entitled "Green River", and continues with a beautiful set of wildly powerful and enthusiastic tunes like the epic "The Poet And The Priest," the soft intoxicating "Temple Bar," and the hypnotic beat of "The Best Kiss," or the slow groove of "From Room 102." CD 2 is a killer too. From the opening title tune ("A Mountain Of Love"), ELLIOTT kicks it up with hot and sensual tempos, layered harmonies, and sandpaper vocals. From radio friendly tracks like "La Belle Dame Sans Merci" to the sing-a-long "Everybody Got Lucky," you'll understand why fans flock to his shows all over Europe.

All the tunes are MURPHY originals (or co-written with Olivier Durand), with two exceptions. The first is "The Banks Of The Ohio", a traditionnal American folk song where ELLIOTT and company stay innovative while clinging to tradition. The other well picked cover is an impassioned and moving version of Neil Youngs' "Bird" featuring excellent slide guitar playing by Olivier Durand.

ELLIOTT's songs seem to gain more and more depth with continued listening. Subtle surprises abound, and the textures seem more layered, more cutting than ever before. Catchy on first listen, the songs settle down and tend to burn deeper and deeper. One more time in his thirty year career the man manages to find just the right blend of sugar and grit.

Besides being backed by his partner of many years, Olivier Durand, whose talent and energy have largely contributed to Elliott's success for several years, who plays magnificent acoustic guitar, slide guitar and mandolins, and co-signs six songs with Elliott, the STRINGS OF STORM band includes the faithful Ernie Brooks on bass and Danny Montgomery on the drum kit. Guests include Cindy Bullens on acoustic guitar and vocals, Florent Barbier on drums and percussion, and Thomas Schaettel and Kenny Margolis on electric piano, organ, moog and mellotron.

Very last warning : Close all windows, and install your storm shutters, turn up the volume and draw all drapes and blinds to stop flying glass. Hurricane ELLIOTT is now within 100 miles of land. Most of Europe is going to feel the impact. We're telling music lovers to get prepared for a Category 5 hurricane of passionate music, a common phenomenon in MURPHY's career.
