The REAL KIDS were a powerful combination of pop melodies, 50s-style rock and roll riffs and 70s punk energy. A few of their songs rank with power pop's all time greatest. At their peak they were the best pop band to ever come from Boston. The first, self-titled album, on Red Star Records, contains their signature song, " All Kindsa Girls ", as well as the equally good "Just Like Darts " and " My Baby's Book ". The second album, " Outta Place ", is probably their best, toning down the volume a bit and adding 12-string guitar to the mix without sapping their energy. They released several other records, " Hit You Hard ", some as the Taxi Boys, and they have songs on several compilations, including " Live At The Rat "... Their first albums are the ones to get. On that reedition, you can find the legendary " Outta Place " LP, + a rather rare live album " All Kinda Jerks Live "(recorded in Paris, France, 1983) + their " Hit Your Hard " LP. Through this compilation, we refind all the roughness, rebellion, emotivity, speed and anger that make The REAL KIDS a living legend for those who long for the return of PUNK rock ! |
